Faust Construction rebuilt the top-floor primary suite of a 1954 traditional house in Sunset Hill for the Fall 2026 Style Issue of designKC, working from a SixTwentyOne design with KBID interiors. Nothing in the existing upper level was square, level or plumb, so the crew built a true shell inside the old structure before any of the minimal detailing could line up.

An architecture publication documents the Lake Winnebago residence completed in 2024. The lot sits on the community's second tier with no direct water frontage, so KEM Studio stacked the house across three levels and ran a boardwalk-like sequence of decks to pull the lake into the plan. Faust Construction built it.

Homes & Style tours Brian Faust's own house at Lake Winnebago, a 3,600 square foot modern residence designed by KEM Studio. The site sits on the lake's second tier rather than the water's edge, so the house is stacked to earn its views, ending in a 400 square foot rooftop deck. Heated concrete floors, rift walnut cabinetry and concealed hinges carry the detail level through the interior.

The Business Journal reports on the modern house going up at 6315 Ward Parkway, on a corner that had sat empty for more than fifteen years. Richard and Annette Bloch's house stood there before it came down in 2009. The new residence is designed by SIXTWENTYONE and carries a price tag above six million dollars. Faust Construction is building it.

Kansas City Homes & Style covered the cliffside backyard Faust Construction built behind a 1926 house in Sunset Hill, where the site drops thirty feet from the front of the house to the back. A gunite pool on that slope needed a foundation sized for the hillside before any of the finished work could sit still, and the pergola over it carries curved Accoya trusses spanning more than twenty feet without mid-span columns.

A downtown tower condo bath, gutted and rethought. Losing the tub bought room for a full shower and real storage, and a floating walnut vanity carries the space. With no window to work with, linear LED was set directly into the sheetrock to light the room. Architecture by herron + partners, built by Faust Construction with walnut work from Bootlace Design & Build.

designKC paired two mid-century remodels, and the first is the 1961 Bob Wendt house in Prairie Village that Faust Construction rebuilt with Poolehaus Residential Design. The problem was not style but running cost: the ceiling was raised, roughly seven inches of insulation went in without changing how the ceiling reads from below, and the windows were replaced throughout with insulated glass.

designKC covered the Prairie Village rambler that Kara Bouillette, a founding partner at SixTwentyOne, renovated for her own family. Built in 1962 and chopped into small rooms by a later remodel, it was reopened with walls out, beams in, and floor-to-ceiling glass where the front rooms had small windows. Faust Construction built it. The same house, The Delmar Ranch, took a Custom Residence award at the 2023 designKC Awards.

Jane and Matt Buss wanted a pool in a backyard that had no obvious room for one, behind a 1957 Donald Drummond mid-century house. The finished scheme fits a twenty by forty foot saltwater pool with a turbine swim system, a Corten steel firepit, cedar fencing and a cabana with enclosed storage. Faust Construction was the contractor across the whole renovation.

Doug and Mandy Stockman nearly doubled the size of their brick house on the upper west side without letting it outgrow the block. Faust Construction was general contractor, and the hard part was the rear addition on a tight urban lot. Architecture by Helix Architecture + Design, with the original masonry kept in play alongside the new work.

Houzz profiles the Old Briarcliff house that designer Julie Arnold and architect Christian Arnold built for their own family, 2,500 square feet on a steep wooded lot. The plan opens up to daylight and holds onto the tree line rather than clearing it. Faust Construction worked with the couple through construction.

The magazine's annual survey of Kansas City builders and the houses they consider representative of their work. Eleven builders were profiled. Faust Construction was among them, presenting the Manica Lake House at Lake Lotawana.

A 4,000 square foot modern lake house at Lake Lotawana, built on a steep, narrow lot that required steel reinforcement and ten months on site. Five bedrooms, three full baths, a thirty-two foot tower, rift white oak floors, and a glass-walled primary bath. The piece also covers where Faust works across the metro.

Brian Faust on building modern in a market that had very little of it before 2005, and on what modern actually demands: structural work that conventional framing does not ask for, subcontractors who can hold a tolerance, and rain-screen wall assemblies. The piece walks through two projects, an urban Kansas City house looking toward the Kauffman Center and a lakeside second home.

Kansas City Homes & Gardens named Faust Construction twice in its 2013 Remodel of the Year awards: the Gold award for Best Exterior Remodel on the Drake house in Kansas City, with architect James Franklin, and the Silver award for Best Kitchen Remodel in the $70,000 to $120,000 range for a kitchen built with Poolehaus Residential Design.

Dwell featured the house architect Christian Arnold and his wife Julie built for their own family on a sloping, triangular lot a few miles from downtown Kansas City, describing it as a tree-house-like structure on stilts at the quirky edge of a conventional neighborhood. Faust Construction built it. A lot that falls away on two sides constrains where equipment can stand and where the foundation can bear, so most of the structure has to be resolved before anything is enclosed.
