In Its Own Time | My Design KC

My Design KC spent time with the Tudor that Matthew and Heather Mellor have been bringing forward in stages. The house is a century old and sits in the Plaza-area neighborhoods, so the work had to modernize how the family lives in it without flattening what makes it worth owning in the first place.

Faust Construction handled the full interior remodel and the terraced poolscape. The exterior was the harder half. The site falls away behind the house, so the new pool terrace meant tying fresh masonry into the existing limestone foundation cleanly enough that the two read as one structure rather than as old and new.

The landscape recreates terracing drawn from original 1940s Hare and Hare plans for the property. McHenry Shaffer Architecture designed the timber pergola, and Lisa Schmitz Interior Design led the interiors.
