designKC covered the Prairie Village rambler that Kara Bouillette, a founding partner at SixTwentyOne, renovated for her own family. The house was built in 1962 and a later remodel had left it a set of chopped-up rooms with standard doors and small windows. Bouillette opened it back up: walls out, beams in, floor-to-ceiling glass across the front, and a brick wall that runs from the entry straight through to the exterior so inside and outside read as one move.

Faust Construction built it. Rift white oak floors, dark walnut cabinetry and white quartz inside; board and batten with salvaged brick cladding and upgraded Marvin windows outside. The work sits in the detailing rather than the plan: minimal reveals, custom European-style cabinetry, and shade tracks integrated into the structure instead of mounted onto it.

The same house, which the article calls The Delmar Ranch, took a Custom Residence award at the 2023 designKC Awards.
